Age of Fire
Greg Brown and Jeff Osias set out together in 1988 to form their own thrash metal band in South Florida, paying homage to their influences, and founded Age of Fire. The following year Clint Jacoby joined them on bass. After playing clubs in New York, New Jersey and across Florida, with airplay on WSHE, WSOU, WKPX and many other radio stations, they proved a force to be reckoned with. AoF was also mentioned in Jam Magazine, Tonight Today, Groove Magazine, XS, East Coast Rocker, Wasteland and the Showtime section of the Fort Lauderdale’s Sun Sentinel. The band gradually morphed into The Village Idiots, playing more alternative rock until they disbanded in 1993.
But in 2008, Greg again took up the torch and mastered all of the original reel-to-reel tracks from sessions recorded in New Jersey and Florida, transferring them to digital format. This self-titled 20th anniversary CD, Age of Fire, was released on iTunes and other digital outlets.
Turn the clock ahead to 2018, and Greg released the 30th anniversary disc of Age of Fire that hit digital outlets on Halloween. That Christmas, the all-new full-length CD entitled Obsidian Dreams dropped to overwhelmingly positive response. For this album, Greg brought in musicians such as Steve Sanderson and Arnaud Krakowka on drums, while taking on vocals, bass and keyboard duties for himself. This CD started a new chapter for the band.
In 2019, Age of Fire introduced a social media presence with more and more streaming outlets, magazine, blog and online interviews and radio stations showcasing them and their music around the globe. In February 2020, the band came out with Shades of Shadow; this new full-length album is their most significant release to date and released on Sliptrick Records! Adding their talents to this new release were Laura Viglione on vocals, and Mike Heck covering bass and drums as well as co-engineering and mixing and all of the mastering. This disc expands AoF’s musical palette, with crushing vocal tracks, classical influences and more unique instrumentals.
Age of Fire are represented by the Pitchfork Syndicate, Metal Coffee PR, and endorsed by Dirtbag clothing. “Laura’s voice is pure and rich in an Ann Wilson/Grace Slick-like charm for early favorite “Judgement Day”. Greg’s shredding neoclassical style leads blend seamlessly against Michael’s steady drum work”- Dead Rhetoric Magazine
“This was an inferno of a show…..we’ve got something special going on here folks”.- Bobby of the Teemates
